We are two Palestinian women documenting our people’s stories, because we believe these histories deserve to be heard, held, and celebrated in our own voices. Tatreez Talk was born from that conviction. We create space for the voices, histories, and hands that carry this tradition forward - not as a museum piece, but as a living, breathing art form with a future as rich as its past. Amanne Sharif is a Palestinian Tatreez artist, designer, and educator, and the founder of Min Amanne Tatreez Designs, a platform dedicated to preserving and reimagining Palestinian embroidery. Rooted in her family’s heritage from Al-Qubab (Ramleh) and Kafr Qallil (Nablus), Amanne’s work blends ancestral storytelling with modern design, using color, composition, and motif to express both personal and collective identity. Through her workshops, embroidery kits, and artwork, she has built a global community centered on connection to Palestine’s land, people, and culture, ensuring that Tatreez remains a living, evolving form of resistance, beauty, and design. In July 2026, Amanne will be launching her debut fashion collection incorporating hand-embroidered Tatreez pieces.

Lina Barkawi is a Palestinian-Panamanian embroidery educator and the founder of Lina’s Thobe, a Brooklyn-based creative business dedicated to tatreez education and cultural reclamation. A diaspora woman with family roots in Burqa and Nablus, she came to tatreez searching for a way to carry Palestine in her hands and has since built one of the most visible tatreez education platforms in the world through her YouTube channel, newsletter Tatreez Thread, and paid community The Tatreez Grove. Her teaching is built on the belief that tatreez produces people, not just objects, and that every finished thobe is evidence of a transformation that no one can take away. She is also the creator of Tatreez.io, a digital design tool made specifically for tatreez practitioners, launching in 2026.

A village’s history could be read in the hem of a woman’s dress. That is the weight of what we’re talking about when we talk about tatreez.

We talk about tatreez the way it deserves to be talked about - with reverence, with humour, with knowledge, and with love. Palestinian embroidery has always been here.
