Tatreez Talk
S1E18. Tatreez as Folk Art Resistance with Veera from @impinsandneedles
18. TATREEZ AS FOLK ART RESISTANCE WITH VEERA FROM @IMPINSANDNEEDLES
VEERA IS A TATREEZ ARTIST, ORGANIZER, FOLK HERBALIST, AND WRITER (@impinsandneedles). In this episode you’ll learn everything from folk herbalism to folk art to folk resistance. See a theme?
We are diving deep with Veera on all things folk, which — spoiler alert — is anything “of the people” and you will be on the edge of your seat wanting to hear every word that she shares.
There’s a role for every one of us in Palestinian liberation. For our Palestinian listeners, remember that “we [Palestinians] come from a 100-year resistance.” For our non-Palestinian allies, you hold so much more power than a Palestinian child has throwing rocks at a tank attempting to ethnic cleanse them.
Find, strategize, and organize for a liberated Palestine. We do not have much to lose and we will see a free Palestine in our lifetime, together.
Also, for our Finnish listeners, there’s a special shoutout for you at the end if you listen all the way through!
You’ll hear about:
>> 1:33: Veera’s connection to Palestine (hint: you want to tune in for this!)
>> 7:51: Finding Palestinian identity through cultural practices
>> 13:47: Veera’s introduction to tatreez
>> 21:00: Intersection of folk culture and resistance
>> 32:43: Tatreez as resistance
>> 40:00: Our roles in liberation
>> 46:51: For those in the Portland (PDX) area
>> 48:48: Veera’s current projects
